Jeremy Sinkus found his passion for glass in 1998 after
working with several mediums. Experimenting with stone,
metals, wood and pencil over the years, glass seemed to
be the holder of his attention. “There is such a vast realm
of possibilities that you can create with this medium
forever. The iridescent colors achieved that resemble
various stones, minerals and the scales of a fish can be
produced so beautifully with borosilicate glass. “Glass just
seems to bring the ocean out of me. This medium
definitely reflects what I miss, what I look forward to and
what I dream.” Glass has finally given me a chance to
express my ideas with a substance that can be used in
organic and natural forms as well as bizarre and mystical.
Although my art is dominantly influenced by the natural
word, I do often combine abstract and unusual themes in
my work. Glass is the perfect medium for me to integrate
many aspects within one challenging medium.”
Because there is no use of any molds, every piece is a
one of a kind. Made of borosilicate glass, the same glass
used in cookware and scientific applications such as
beakers and test tubes. Jeremy hopes to continue
exploring his artistic possibilities in lampworking by
furthering his research under the sea and on the
mountains.
